Importing a SysMan License

Acquiring a SysMan license

SysMan licenses can be acquired from http://www.sysgem.eu/registration-sysman.

The license comes as a text-file and is mostly named as '<licencee> License PAK (Base).txt', or just 'License.txt'.
After the license has been imported and SysMan has been restarted, it will show all features which it has been licensed for. Should you for any reason believe that these are incorrect, then please consult your distributor or reseller for advise.

Importing a license - Methods
To accomodate various needs, SysMan supports various ways to import a license.

  • Import license from the 'License' menu
This is the fastest and easiest method, but will not work on expired installations.
  • Import license in the License Manager
Prefered method to apply if your license is expired.
  • Distribute license accross multiple nodes
    Intended for automated distribution

Import license from the 'License' menu
Note: if you license is expired, this method will not be available. In such case, please pick one of the other methods to import your SysMan license.

  1. Start menu File >> Import & Export >> Import License (Example).
  2. Select the license file to be imported (Example).
  3. After the license is validated, confirm it to be imported (Example).
Note: If this is not a valid license, it will report as such at this point. In such case, please consult your distributor or reseller for a renewal or replacement-request.
  4. After the license has been imported, optionally open details in the License Manager by answering 'Yes' on the 'Display the License Manager?' question in the 'PAK Loaded' window (Example).
To start operating SysMan straight away, press 'No' at this point.

Import license in the License Manager
Note: This procedure assumes expired installations. If your installation is not expired and you want to manually import a license, please use the 'Import license from the 'License' menu' menu method instead.

  1. When a license is already expired, after starting the user-interface, the client would then show the License Expired window. To start the License Manager at this point, click [OK] (Example.
Alternatively, if your installation is not expired, then the License Manager has to be opened manually. It can as such be started by clicking the License Bar. The License Bar is hidden by default. Display it (temporary) via top-menu [View] - [License Bar].
  2. In the License Manager, click 'Load' to load a new license (Example.
  3. Select the license file to import and click 'Open' (Example).
  4. If the imported license is accepted then is shows up in the License Manager window, preceded by a green mark. (Optionally show the license detials, by double-clicking the license in the License manager window.) Confirm the imported license by closing the License Manager window with the 'OK' button (Example).
Note: If this is not a valid license, it will report as such at this point. In such case, please consult your distributor or reseller for a renewal or replacement-request.

Distributing a license
For convenience on scripted installs, software-distributions, logon-scripts, images-setups etcetera, SysMan also supports licensing through a distirbution of the license-files.

  1. On the machine where SysMan is installed, browse to
    [<Installation-path>\Sysgem\SysMan Authorization Server\System]
For instance, on a default installation on a 64-bit machine this would be
    [C:\Program Files (x86)\Sysgem\SysMan Authorization Server\System]
  2. Copy the files 'License PAK (Base).txt' and 'License PAK (Module).txt' to a temporary back-up location.
  3. Rename the license-file you've been provided to 'License PAK (Base).txt' and copy it in the current folder, thereby overwriting the previous version.
  4. And restart SysMan.
The license should then be applied.
