Manual install of the SysMan Remote Control Server service

Although the SysMan Remote Control service can be installed remotely from within the SysMan applications, circumstances might require the service to be installed manually or through a 3rd-party software-distribution. We have provided the means for a manual install through a MSI-installer-package which can be distributed over the machines in question.

How-to:

  1. The SysMan Remote Control service installation-package is stored on the SysMan RC client-machine (your local dektop, i.e. the machine where you connect from), as SysgemRCServer.msi in the 'Sysgem\SysMan Remote Control' installation folder (Example).
On 32-bits-machines this would by default be:
    C:\Program Files\Sysgem\SysMan Remote Control
On 64-bit-machines the would by default be:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Sysgem\SysMan Remote Control
Browse to the Sysgem\SysMan Remote Control installation folder and copy
the SysManRCServer.msi package to a more convenient location – this could be the local desktop, an
accessible share, or some other shared folder the target server has access to.
  2. Log on locally on the target server and run SysManRCServer.msi, which will start the SysMan Remote
    Control Server Setup Wizard (Example).
  3. On the next pages, read and accept the license agreement to continue, approve or alter
the destination folder and optionally set the RC session password (Example).
  4. On the 'Server Options' page, set the server options as required.

    Note:

The settings applied here can be changed after installation.

    Server options (Example):
    • Show connection list when active: If this option is set, then a window is displayed on the target system indicating that Remote Control session(s) are active, and which IP address(es) are connected.
    • Allow user to control incoming connections: If set, a user that is logged on to the remote machine has the option to reject a connection. By default, the server is configured to automatically reject connection requests after a 10-second timeout.
    • Allow user to change Remote Control settings: If enabled, then the user of the target system can open the server’s Options dialog box to change the server configuration.
  5. On the final page of the installer, click Install to being the installation, wait for the 'Completed the SysMan Remote Control Server Setup Wizard' window to confirm successful installation, and close the wizard (Example).
